| LCCPS IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 3rd and 4th GRADES, 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR |
Lowell Community Charter Public School has an extended school day and year (most public schools offer 180 six-hour days of instruction). The required schedule and calendar for all students at LCCPS is 190 days, with seven and a half hours of instruction each day. Our school year starts in August and ends in late June. (See the school calendar at the beginning of this Handbook for specific dates). The third Thursday of every month is an early release day, for teacher and staff professional development, in which students leave school at 12:00 pm. On those days, there is no lunch or after school program.
Students are expected to attend school every scheduled day, unless they are ill. If families decide to withdraw children for family vacations, other than official school vacation periods, they do so at their own risk.
The school will not provide makeup work for the days that the children miss. Rather, it is extremely important that parents make sure that children read and write every day (as many as three hours total) and participate in and complete family math activities.
