Students choose to learn either Spanish or Khmer which is indicative of our student population. Instruction begins in kindergarten through grade 5 for 30 minutes every day and continues in grades 6 through 8 for 45 minutes each day. Emphasis is given to the four important strands of listening, speaking, reading and writing in the target language. Spanish teachers are reinforcing English and Math areas; such as, building vocabulary and studying perimeter. Kindergarten through grade six are using a program produced by the Wright Group while students in grades seven and eight are using En Espanol which is produced by McDougal Littell Publishing. For the most part, Khmer teachers create their own teaching materials.
